The universally applicable SLM printing process has long been established in the motorsport sector. The advantages are clear: design freedom, weight reduction and quick availability. However, for larger components, the construction time can still take many hours, which often leads to problems since the parts are needed quickly. Renishaw has closely examined the construction process and found that there are strategies to significantly reduce construction time without having to compromise on quality or strength. The presentation explains this revolutionary development and shows, using selected racing parts, how AM-manufactured parts can be produced even faster, making the vehicle quicker.
