This case study illustrates how extreme motorsport projects push the boundaries of innovation and reliability. Designing high-voltage, high-performance battery systems is Podium Advanced Technologies’ core business. But when challenged by Audi to develop the battery for the pioneering RS Q e-tron, the mission went far beyond performance alone: it required the creation of a system capable of coping with the extreme conditions of the Dakar Rally. From searing heat to violent vibrations and over 21,000 dune impacts, the battery not only endured but powered the car to three consecutive Dakar finishes – without a single failure – and ultimately to victory. This presentation will describe how that battery was developed.
