Batteries in hybrid performance vehicles provide acceleration power and braking regeneration to give the driver instantaneous torque compared to combustion-only vehicles. Batteries are therefore put through high electrical and thermo-mechanical stresses. Keeping the battery cells in their rated temperature region of operation is challenging and multiple methods have been developed over the years. In this presentation Ricardo will explore their latest developments in both immersion cooling and water/glycol cooling performance battery design.
