Van Der Lee Turbo Systems’ new range of lightweight, high-performance turbochargers is aimed at professional motorsport and extreme performance applications. It draws on Van Der Lee’s experience with the Porsche 963 and Alpine LMDH endurance racing programmes and its work on the development of Formula One turbochargers with a power unit manufacturer for the upcoming 2026 regulations.
The new turbos accommodate power levels from 250 bhp to 1050 bhp. Each turbocharger features a nickel-based super alloy turbine wheel, a stainless steel turbine housing, a fully machined compressor wheel made from aluminium or titanium, a dual-row ceramic ball bearing system, and a 1-piece fully machined lightweight compressor housing.
The turbochargers are suited to a wide range of vehicles and engines, from rally and rallycross to GT, single make series, prototype endurance, and touring car applications.
The VD056/VD061/VD068 turbochargers can be configured as direct replacements for existing professional motorsport turbochargers, including regulation inlet restrictor attachment if required, and turbine housing V-Band inlet and outlet connections to suit existing exhaust system designs. These direct replacement units realise a 25-35% weight reduction, and 25-40% cost saving compared to the motorsport turbochargers currently available.
