The partnership epitomises the ethos of ASP Seat, and the vision Alessio has to support the next generation in motorsport. The company’s renowned expertise and dedication to motorsport engineering has led them to develop the next generation of race seats, that are lightweight, comfortable and cooling.
A member of the InMotion team stated that ‘from the first meeting at the Motorsport Expo in Cologne in November 2024, all the way until the seat fit in July 2025, it was great to work with ASP Seat for our project.’
The ASP Seat team’s approach to race seat design is characterised by a fusion of technology, engineering and an understanding of the demands of the racing environment. They work tirelessly to make sure that their seats prioritise comfort, support and positioning, ensuring that drivers experience an optimal balance between performance and safety.
With their dedication to electric mobility, the team at InMotion endeavours to take new strides in motorsport. It is one of the reasons their collaboration with ASP Seat has been so successful, as innovation is at the heart of both organisations. A racing seat has long been thought of as a pure functionality, but ASP Seat gives it the consideration it deserves.
As well as the vital safety element, the InMotion team embraced the opportunity to learn from Alessio, after repeatedly getting the same feedback from their drivers. ‘The previous seat did not provide the right support for them and was not comfortable to be in for longer than ten minutes!’ As well as this, they also wanted to professionalise their cockpit, so the custom seat cover showing both the ASP Seat and InMotion logos checked this box.
‘ASP has helped us in overcoming these issues by supplying us with a seat that offers the right support to the drivers for their time in the car.’ This benefit was apparent right from the start of the seat fitting process, as drivers could sit comfortably in the car for a longer time. It’s of little surprise that the seat has been adopted by drivers and teams across the motorsport series. With their dream of one day racing in the 24 hour race of Le Mans, having a comfortable seat made to excel in endurance conditions is another small step towards achieving this.
Active proponents of the transition to electric and sustainable mobility in motorsport, InMotion is affiliated with the Eindhoven University of Technology. One member of the team said that ‘during the seat fit, and in previous meetings as well, it was great for…our student team to talk to two people who have spent years in the paddock. Hearing these stories has definitely inspired a few of InMotion’s team members to further pursue a career in motorsport, including myself!’
Coming from a successful two and a half decades in motorsport, Alessio makes it no secret that one of his aims with ASP Seat is to assist burgeoning youngsters carve a path for themselves in motorsport.
‘It’s thrilling to hear that this project has motivated some of the talented young people at InMotion to further pursue their passion for motorsport. It’s an ever evolving and sometimes grueling industry to work in, but one that with hard work and determination can be hugely fulfilling.’
Another member of the InMotion team commented on how valuable it has been to work with Alessio, to understand exactly what is involved in getting a car race ready. ‘He has helped by providing us with a great seat, and thereby helping out with the challenges we previously encountered with the drivers in our car. It showed the importance of driver comfort, and also during the seat fit highlighted the different areas where improvements are still needed.’
There’s never a dull moment in the world of racing, and with the official launch race next week, the team at ASP Seat wishes everyone at InMotion great success in their endeavours!
